| Probable cause affidavit: | Submitted by: Emrick/0104 Unlawfully traffic in property he knew was stolen; and Did unlawfully provide false verification of ownership to a pawnbroker; to wit: On 06/28/15, the victim reported to the Citrus County Sheriffâs Office that her house had been burglarized and property was stolen. The defendant was named as a possible suspect. A pawn query was completed on the defendant, who had many pawn transactions. On 06/30/15, the victim met me at Florida Jewelers, where she was able to positively identify jewelry sold to Florida Jewelers on 06/12/15, where he was paid $65. The jewelry consisted of a woven gold necklace, a purple stone pendant and the victimâs fatherâs class ring. All pawn paperwork was collected and turned into evidence. On 06/30/15, the victim met me at Family Jewelry and Pawn, where she was able to positively several pieces of jewelry sold to Family Pawn on 06/11/15, where he was paid $140. The jewelry consisted of several rings and chains, including the victimâs motherâs mother ring, which had the birthstones of the victim and her siblings. On 06/30/15, the victim met me at Silver Stampede, where she was able to positively identify a Magnavox television sold to Silver Stampede on 06/12/15, where he was paid $20. The victim was able to identify the television as she had the serial number, plus she described an owner applied sticker on the back of the remote, which read Moms TV. On 07/02/15, the victim met me at Colonial Pawn, where she was able to positively identify a silver necklace sold to Colonial Pawn on 06/09/15, where the defendant was paid $1.50 for the necklace. The defendant also sold several other pieces of jewelry that did not belong to this victim. These pieces of jewelry were later identified by the defendantâs parents, who had also filed a theft report. The thumbprints on all four pawn slips were later identified as belonging to the defendant. On 07/28/15, I observed a person I believed to be the defendant in the front yard of 9920 E Gulf to Lake Hwy. As I pulled into the driveway, this person went quickly into the house. I asked the homeowner the name of the male who went into the house. She replied Jeramy. I told her I needed to speak with him. As she went into the house, I asked to come in and she said okay. The defendant was found hiding in a bedroom closet. When I identified myself and told him to come out, he did. The defendant was arrested, double-locked handcuffed behind his back and transported to the County Jail. He stated he did not wish to make a statement and all conversation ceased. He was charged with four counts of Dealing in Stolen Property and four counts of False Verification of Ownership to a Pawn Broker. Total bond is set at $28,000 per the schedule. |
