| Comments: | MATHERS, John Henry Mathers is currently NOT wanted for any crime and is NOT under any community supervision. In 1972, MATHERS was convicted of Indecent Liberties and Assault 2nd Degree. MATHERS (Age 20) had stopped a 12 year old female walking down the sidewalk. The victim attempted to flee and MATHERS chased her down and threatened her with a 3' knife. MATHERS threatened to stab her and removed her to a remote area. He then forced the victim to perform oral sex on him and unsuccessfully attempted to have sexual intercourse with her. He again forced her to perform oral sex on him. MATHERS threatened the victim and told her that he would stab her to death if she told anyone what he had done. Approximately 2 weeks later, MATHERS abducted an 11-year-old male and his 10-year-old sister who were both delivering newspapers that morning. He pulled a knife on them and threatened to hurt them to gain control over them. MATHERS took them behind an apartment building and forced them to undress. He gagged the female victim with a sweater and then he forced both of the victims to perform oral sex on him. He took the children to his residence where he again forced them to perform oral sex on him. Before releasing the victims, he stole $5.87 from them and told them to bring him more money the following day. In 1980, MATHERS was convicted for Escape 2nd Degree. MATHERS escaped from a state work release facility and fled to California. While in California, MATHERS assaulted and stabbed a 22-year-old female. The victim's injuries were serious enough to require hospitalization. MATHERS was convicted of Assault with a Deadly Weapon for that assault. In 1981, MATHERS was residing at the Tacoma Work Release facility. He had been granted a 4-hour pass. MATHERS met a 19-year-old female on the bus and tricked her into inviting him to her residence. At the residence, MATHERS threatened the victim with a knife and a screwdriver he picked up at the residence. The victim struggled and MATHERS assaulted her and stabbed her in the abdomen with the screwdriver and forced her to perform oral sex on him. He then made the victim remove her clothing and sexually assaulted her. MATHERS escaped from the work release facility a few days later when the police brought the rape victim to the facility to determine if she could identify the person who assaulted her. MATHERS was apprehended a month later and he was identified as the suspect in the rape. MATHERS pled guilty to the Rape 2nd Degree and the Escape 1st Degree was dropped in the plea agreement. In 1989, MATHERS escaped from the Washington State Reformatory Farm in Snohomish County and eventually turned himself in approximately 2 months later. MATHER claimed that he went to Seattle and San Francisco while on the escape status. MATHERS HAS AN EXTENSIVE ESCAPE HISTORY AND HAS AKNOWLEDGED HE DID GET A SIGNIFICANT 'THRILL' FROM THESE ACTIVITIES. In 1997, MATHERS was civilly committed to the Special Commitment Center (SCC) because of his sexual criminal history and mental health issues. Since that time, he has been involved in sex offender treatment and has continued treatment without significant interruption of services. MATHERS is considered to be a high risk to reoffend and he is classified as a LEVEL 3 offender. This allows the Pacific County Sheriff's Department to disclose relevant and necessary, and accurate information to the public at large. Sex Offender registration laws allow for the tracking of sexual offenders. It does not control the location of where an offender chooses to live or frequent. |
